Meet the Therapists
Sandra Fischer, PsyD, HSP
Licensed Psychologist
(She/Hers)
Dr. Fischer specializes in working with children and adolescents (ages 6+) and has been providing therapy in Cedar Rapids for the past sixteen years. She has extensive training and experience in providing treatment for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, such as sexual abuse, physical abuse, and domestic violence. Dr Fischer is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment approach shown to help children, adolescents, and their caregivers overcome emotional and behavioral difficulties related to a traumatic event. In addition to trauma, her other areas of treatment interest include anxiety, phobias, and adjustment issues, such as grief and divorce.
Dr. Fischer was awarded St. Luke’s Child Protection Center’s Kathleen Opdebeeck Award for Professional Excellence. This award is given to professionals who have demonstrated exemplary service in providing specialized assistance to Iowa’s children. Clearly this award was a great honor, but Dr. Fischer believes having the opportunity to help children feel better about themselves and overcome adversity is rewarding in itself.

Angela Cantrell Fielding
LISW RPT
I am a licensed independent social worker with over twenty years of experience providing therapeutic services to children and families. I am a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and have specialized training in evidenced based treatment of Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). My office provides a PCIT suite to offer PCIT services effectively. I am also trained in trauma informed Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
My career focus is dedicated to working with children and families dealing with anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, trauma, foster care/adoption, disruptive behaviors and parenting challenges. I believe a parent is the most important person in a child’s life and will incorporate parents into sessions to build positive understanding, relationships and decreasing behaviors.
Willow and Rorschach
Therapy Dogs
Dr. Fischer has two therapy dogs, Willow and Rorschach (Rory). Willow is a mini aussiedoodle and is mostly retired, making only occasional visits to the office. Rory is a mini bernedoodle and was named after the famous inkblot test. Although both dogs are doodles and thought to be more allergy-friendly, please let us know in advance if you have any dog allergies or are afraid of dogs. Rest assured that if clients do not want Rory or Willow in session, then they are not a part of therapy.
